On Himmelreich: it looks like a wall but there are big differences within the vineyard due to soil structure (if you are above a big rock, you will have better water retention, sun exposure (it can vary with +/-30. Stablay and Goldwingert (latter usually source for Willi Schaefer Auslese) for instance are real standouts. Prices can vary from simple to triple in function of quality (think of CLos Vougeot only totally mixed up, i.e. without an upper, middle and lower part)

Yixin - wasn't Daniel in the US for overseeing the Washington venture of Loosen (name just escapes me) in 1999?
 
I don't know if he was overseeing it, but he was definitely involved. Thanks for reminding me. He was at Fromm's in 97, right?

AFAIK, Berni made all the final decisions in consultation with Ernie and Thomas, and while Daniel took part in the winemaking during his stint at Loosen, they are most definitely not his wines.
