Spam: Cowan Cellars up and Running

Jim does not actually sell any wines, as far as I can tell. He makes them. He describes them on his web page. He distributes a few bottles so that other people can taste them and write about them. But that's it.

It's probably a scheme whereby he will corner the market on Cowan wines.

A glance at his newsletter (see the link above) suggests that he has now vaulted the regulatory hurdles necessary to sell his wine. Hence the congratulations.

So he says. But he still isn't selling. I'm sticking to my theory.

woo-hoo! Old vintners kick ass!
By the way, the tonnage you're describing for this year suggests 750 cases, or thereabouts, so you'll have to drink a lot of that up to get it down to just 500 cases...

Steve, I'm sure you know that before Jim became a vintner he made an honest living as a "lawyer". Hot air from the legal beagle wine maker will easily evaporate the excess 250 cases into the Sonoma sky. Not to be confused with the "Angels Share".

Shhh, don't mention the r/o for that extra juicy mouthfeel.

Jonathan,
FWIW, long before I applied for a winery license (and the one that lets me sell) I got requests to start a mailing list. I did.
I almost wish I'd delayed that decision because now it really does feel like I'm hoarding; and apologizing for it.
I'm not - honest.
We hope to release after the first of the year.

Steve,
I figured 600 tops; now I really am scared.

Cory,
Come anytime. If you come during harvest, wear old clothes.

Ian,
I love spam.

Thanks for the interest, Jim

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

What does one have to do to signal support and desire by indirection around here? Are we going to be reduced to emoticons?

Jim, you can keep it to 600 cases. Just don't press anything fermented on the skins. (insert "smiley faced tongue in cheek winky, somewhat kidding but actually kinda serious, I'm not in it for the money" emoticon here)
