Gueuze and Kriek

Had the Hanssens Oude Kriek last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit. How does it fare amongst the real lambic geeks I see arrayed above me?

It was preceded by two interesting brews: the Two Brothers Atom Smasher Oktoberfest Style Lager, which was certainly tasty but I thought was a little lifeless, and the remarkably distinct New Holland Pilgrims Dole Wheat Wine, which is essentially a barley wine-style but made from wheat, way darker than any barley wine of my acquaintance (in fact, it was opaque), and more than a little bit balsamic. On the other hand, it went great with a fideus of chorizo, rabbit, pork shoulder, and escargot, which I assume is the usual pairing...

I like Hanssens quite a bit. The natural fruit flavored lambics are great.

The only real abominations are the Lindeman's flavored beers, in my opinion. Those are the only real grossness I see on the American market in the sour category. Their sweetened with syrup...blech.
