2007 Baudry Chinon Cuve Domaine

I think the point of wine and cheese was well stated by Richard Olney -- it's just an excuse to open another good bottle of wine (but it's not a marriage made in heaven). So abide by the principle of first do no harm, and enjoy each separately rather than looking for the synergy and you'll be much happier.

Those sound like wise words, except that every now and then the synergy occurs, giving just enough hope that one can find it again. Most of the time, I've found synergy in matching relatively modest wines, like a growling Ctes de Nuits villages with an poisses.

Almost anything. When in doubt, chenin blanc based wines are my first choice for cheese.

I'd agree, my default option if I'm not spending more thought on it than I usually do.

But I've been liking Landaff with many reds recently.

2 pairings for heaven:

Cote du Jura or Chateau Chalon with aged comte....boy !
Meursault with a runny Epoisses or delice de Bourgogne...yum !

Without a doubt.

Cliche` alert from a couple of NooBs

Don't rough him up, M. Tronche may be the only person drinking Meursault on this board! Not there's anything wrong with that....

Why is that!? Is it trendy so we have to say it sucks?

Hell no ! Give me a Roulot Meursault and I'm happy. (yeah I know, I guess it's another cliche)

You will have to ask the people here who "hate Chardonnay." I happen to like it (though I prefer Puligny).

I also prefer Puligny but Roulot, De Montille, Mikulski and Jobard (both of them) rarely, if ever, disappoint me. Oh well...I like Chardonnay I guess.

Roulot is most awesome. De Montille's Puligny Cailleret idem. But I can't agree about either Jobard, beurk.

Glad you like chardonnay. Fight the power!

I like it too. Preferably with a kiss of wood. XXO
