for the city dwelling mushroom heads

I found some chicken mushrooms and maitakes in Central Park last year. The maitakes were a bit old and I was with my niece and nephew, so I didn't grab the chickens. They're out there, though.

The first morels I ever found were growing in the corner funk next to a basement washing machine in a college rental house in Palo Alto. Um, didn't eat them though.

Although I have read that Japanese chefs do collect gingko nuts there.

I used to skirt older Chinese immigrants collecting the gingko nuts in Sakura Park (Claremont Ave @ 122nd St) during the late Fall. Better them than I, I'd think as I walked past...

I have never been able to think of eating mushrooms from Central Park.

Why not? They using lots of fertilizers in there?

Btw, the pics I took last year in the park.
