Carla Cohen, the founder of the great, great DC bookstore, Politics and Prose, died this morning. She will be sorely missed as an arbiter of literary taste. It was Carla, in a Washingtonian article about how independent booksellers can make a bestseller (this in the time of Bridges of Madison County), who named "The World as I Found It" as her then-current "you must read" novel. I knew I'd found the perfect source for recommendations for me.
