We went to our favorite bistro last night, just Diane and I; took this along. Diane had mac and cheese and a side of green beans, I had a salad and a grilled cheese sandwich; peasant fare, if you will (but very nicely done). We could not have opened a better wine.
Small pours over the course of a leisurely meal, and enough to share a glass while just chatting afterward. Ahhhhh.
No, this isnt a tasting note - I have written many about this before. Its just a slice of life shared over a beautiful drink. A bottle that, should they ever start to ask me multiple choice questions about what makes any wine superaltive, I would have to check all of the above for this one. A bottle I return to when I have strayed; one that centers me about all that is good and subtle and inspiring about wine and its uses.
Some nights are just better than others.
