Let me try more directly, is anyone familiar with the sauvignon blanc of Domaine Chater? Supposedly organic farming.... I am particularly interested in experience with the 2005 vintage.

I suspect that, had we an answer, we would have supplied it by now.
Is this the oak-aged 2005 Sauvignon Blanc or the tiny quantity of half bottle 2005 botrytis Sauvignon Blanc?originally posted by kirk wallace:

Bottled under stelvin.
This weekend I will taste it and if it merits any further words (good or ill), I'll post some.

I am now fully terrified. With luck, there will be an a nice Alfa grrrring under that stelvin.
But which of the 2 [possibly 3 if there is an un-oaked 2005] versions was it please?originally posted by kirk wallace:

the wine has decent sauv. blanc aromas, but is too rich/syrupy in the mouth; imagine Cotat Grande Cote without the acidity or minerality. No Ferrari or even Alpha.
no way to tell, Nigel. Obviously not the sweet 375ml. Abv, 13.5%. The bottle doesn't tell anything about elevage. just 2 days skin contact and "gentle pressing". Not any obvious "oakiness", but also not the zingy character that i associate with "steel only".originally posted by nigel groundwater:

CellarTracker has integrated Garagiste's offers with the particular wines. I believe this is for the one you're talking about.originally posted by kirk wallace:
I know that the case I have came from Garagiste, bought in June '07 for about $12 per bottle. I didn't save (the no doubt gushing) prose that came with the offer.)

Interestingly, a small taste this AM shows much less heaviness; it is actually pretty pleasant -- seems similar to a decent village white bordeaux with a bit more concentration and no semillon notes. (And given that all i want is a wine for a cocktail party we're hosting for a favorite charity, I think it will work fine.
