2008 Claude Courtois Cuvee Quartz

This wine comes from very old sauvignon blanc vines, the majority of those being franc de pied.
I believe the wine is 2008 as it is mentioned Lot 08-02 on the label even though the cork mentions 2009. But this cuvee is raised in barrels 12 months so I would be surprised if the 09 is already for sale.
As usual with Claude, no sulfur is added.

This is a wine to trick anyone. I was shocked how it has nothing to do with 98% of the other sauvignon blanc. it kind if reminded me of F Cotat wines because of the power and richness while keeping tremendous acidity. Round, evolving in the glass, some spices, pear and minerality. Then some herbs...This is outstanding. Loved it !

The 09 was still in barrel last week and it tasted very promising! I brought back a bottle of the 08 with me and will try it soon. As soon as the fear of travel shock (which I don't even know if I believe in) subsides.

Thanks for the info Oswaldo. I also brought back a few 2008s. I'm waiting for your write up on your visit there.
