I had the pleasure of trying the 07 Philippe Faury St. Jo VV the other night after a friends fall portfolio tasting. Gonon seems to get more love around here, but to my tastes Faury is top of the game. His wines seem cut a leaner figure and carry their wildness with grace and almost elegance.
The 07 was loaded with iron and wild herbs. Great balance and light on it's feet.

I've been enjoying these since the '04 vintage and they have been consistently right up my alley every year.

Me loves both the Faury and Gonon (and Faurie, too, if prodded). Good to hear about the '07.

I thought (a couple of weeks ago) 01 Hermitage got away from them.

Does SFJoe disagree ?
 
My wife loved the 07 Blanc version we drank recently.
I am still trying to wrap my head around Rhone whites, but thought this was good.

I love the red Faury St Joseph, and Gonon too.

Dunno. Hermitage has been largely out of reach for me for a while now. St. Joseph is all that I've had from Faurie.
