anyone familiar with vin vino in palo alto?I was thinking of placing an order with them but have never done so before.

Thanks!

I was treated well there.

I've never seen more dead inventory of Z-H in one place before in my life.

Prices were OK. Got a great deal on a Foucault wine.

Are they online now? They weren't interested in giving me a list last time I was there as they didn't want folks cherry-picking their inventory as opposed to regular customers.

Fair enough by me.

Zind-Humbrecht is being closed out in one local store. Not high-end stuff, mostly riesling, but still. Also being closed out: Boxler, Bonneau (not kidding), a ton of that high-point Grateful Palate stuff, lots of Bordeaux, some older Jayer (really, but it's all gone now), a ton of Disorderly stuff from one importer (some of which, to be honest, I'm not convinced ever actually made it to the shelves; I would have bought it at full price if I'd seen it, though it's possible it went back to the distributor and ended up at this store later), lots of Faiveley, a fair amount of Fvre and things like Montrachet in magnum, a really large amount of high-point Sauternes, some classified Bordeaux from vintages that aren't exactly 1997, some really expensive sake, Kreydenweiss VTs, and...well, you get the picture.

It's ugly out there, in other words.

Oh, and they're closing out a bunch of Yellow Tail, too. No, not kidding about that either. They have to be losing money on the stuff at this point.

You have better radar than I do.

You must've checked on line by now, Nathan. VV shows specials, as far as I can tell, but not its regular inventory on line. Prices are mixed. Lots of Chandon de Briailles, which bodes well. Too bad they are so far away.
