GGgggrrrr Mller-thurgau trocken 2009, Stuart Pigott
This is Stuart Pigotts first wine after he took lessons at Geisenheim. The 25 year old vines are from the Tauberzeller Hasennestle-einzellage. No use of herbicides in the vineyard. Grapes harvested with 100 degree Oechsle. Stainless steel. 264 bottles made in total. It is of course made as a bashing of the grosses gewchs-system and with the typical humor of Stuart Pigott. Intense nose. Earthy, stoney, mineral. Some spice and obviously quite ripe mller-thurgau. Big and quite ripe in the mouth. Earthy and almost slutty aromatics. Lots of concentration. Dry and lots of alcohol. A bit earthy, stoney fruit. Hints of spices. Also some fine minerality, but would be better with more focus. Medium acids. Dry and alcoholic finish (14%). Interesting for it's depth, but this lacks refinement and overall balance. Still a good wine.

Thanks - I can see him making this wine with the middle finger aimed at the VDP. Hilarious. Didn't know he started this project!
