I plan to recork an entire case of IX Raisins Gaules. I love this wine; and I hear that it is young vine Morgon (something tells me it is only a small portion). My prediction is this will have a fairly quick but balanced aging curve, and in ten years will be a delicious, light drink of aged meat and spring flowers.
In previous posts I have indicated that my recorking results have been mixed. As I've had more recorked wines, however, I do see somewhat of a pattern - recorked "natural" ish wines don't like it so much. Recorked CRB's, for example, are a wild card. But others, such as Simon Hawkins' wines, have done better.
I don't know if Marcel used much SO2 in this wine, but I have a good feeling about my chances.
If anyone wants to join me for the event here in Seattle, and happens to have any plastic or screwcapped wines they want to convert, please let me know. I am going to open a magnum of 02 Foillard to fortify me, and perhaps grill some sausages. You are also welcome if you want to turn this into a little Marcel memorial event and just watch.
