With all the fuss lately, thought we'd open an eight-year-old Ch. des Jacques. Very pretty now, bright, tart, sappy, intense, refined but also a bit rustic. Flavor is unlike any other bj I've had, perhaps a mix between Cotes de Rhone and a very good Bourgogne. If this is what 'pinoter' means, then it is strictly a market-driven descriptor. The flavors are not really pinot-like - though less so than those of young bjs - but delicious and interesting in their own way.
I'm leery of the 09 Rochegres, with its 14% abv, but will have to add the MaV sans lieu-dit to my shopping list now.
The 05 Luneau Papin was pleasant and classy, but so modestly proportioned that I assume it's still developing. Drink or hold.
