Depressed corks on your '09 Briords?

Or is it just me?

I was told by a NY retailer that it was the case for all the bottles they got...

Said retailer also claimed Joe was aware of it and said it was pretty normal for Pepiere...yet I haven't encountered this in any of the previous half dozen or so vintages of the wine I have...

now that you mention it....opened one the other night and noticed that it was a bit recessed. I was going to put some away for a bunch of years: I assume that shouldn't be a problem.
 
I'm glad to hear it's not just me :)

I'm not too worried - I have to imagine it's something like that you describe, rather than cold...I doubt Joe would let the wines get too cold...

I checked my '08s last night and they are a little recessed as well. Never gave it much thought, though. But, can you blame them? If you were a cork in a bottle Briords, wouldn't you want to be a little closer to the wine as well?
 
One of 3 bottles purchased at the SF K&L yesterday afternoon had a depressed cork. All three bottles were spectacular served as foils to fresh Dungeness crab rolls and shrimp scampi at a large family holiday dinner gathering last evening. Still amazing to me that the '09 Briords is so ready to go out of the bottle. As an aside, it outshone the '09 Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Rose which, though a very nice wine in its own right, was a bit too flabby to be real competition.
 
I have noticed that my Pepiere corks have been a bit gloomy. They never make eye contact and spend most of the time alone sulking at the back of the wine fridge.

I guess that means two had heat damage :-) Kidding of course.
