Ruta and Daitya

This is a much maligned album. But I love it. Quirky and a hell of a lot of fun. Jarrett and DeJohnette starting to groove on what the 70s just might be about.

maligned, really?

Well, Cook + Morton don't like any of Jarrett's more experimental stuff, and even Carr, who worships Jarrett, barely mentions the album in his biography.

I find it fascinating that Jarrett sits down at the electric piano for this - I had always understood the only reason he touched it was because Miles wanted him to - but here he takes it up himself. I love the echoes of the electric Miles stuff in this.

passed that by in the bins today

The German pressings are generally the best, but the Warner Bros. are not far behind and are often cheap. The Polydor pressings are more average jazz quality I'd say.

I'm generally not buying any Polydor's, and just picking up Warner Bros. to tie me over until I come across German pressings, which are a bit like finding the holy grail when I do.
