It certainly isn't Clos Roche Blanche...

But the 2009 Nolla Morantin Gamay Touraine La Boudinerie is getting quite pleasant with some air. Started out a bit reductive (real cork though), but after a couple of hours its more enjyoable with bright red fruits and a stalky/herbal edge. Not bad, certainly solid but not something I'd go out of my way to buy.

Do you really think that? My experience is that it doesn't necessarily follow; reduction is a bottling condition, not a closure result...despite what the closure fascists suggest. Yes, the synthetics will oxidize faster, but not immediately.

Jim Carr: I was watching some kids play hockey the other day, five- and six-year-olds, little mites. One kid said "I'm Killer Carlson." He picked up his little stick, and he creamed that other kid. How do you feel about that, Dave?
Dave Carlson: Well, Jim, the way I see it is, the kid probably would've done it anyway. Bad upbringing in the home.

The Russian lion always does.

The clock is ticking on the previously-discussed '94, by the way. Otherwise, I'm going to drink it myself.

Noted. Frequently in your hood, but often on short notice.

I'm not "in my hood" much over the remaining year, so the clock is ticking faster than one might think. But VT or MA, give me what notice you can if you're interested, since you continue to insist that it's (by rights) your bottle...and you might be right.

Yes, remind us once more that you're going to spend two months in Paris.
It would be hard for me to spend two months in Paris before the end of the year, so that's probably not it.

have I actually insisted ? Funny.

It must have been after that epic CFE tasting, at which I was the lone dissenter in liking the wine ( a lot ). I think the crowd failed to appreciate it given two contexts - one of some idealistic notion of The Fred, and the other provided by the collection of vintages tasted at the same event. I thought this unusually losely structured version with correspondingly (key word) petroly and borderline exotic fruits displayed a great flexibility of this bottling without violating any articles in the rule book.
