Advancing much quicker than I'd guess, some leather and tobacco leaf on a subdued leafy frame. Soft. Enjoyable but turned a downhill corner within a half hour. Drink up.

I love his reds. First 09 Pepie Cot which I drank in about 15 minutes with a friend, and now this - 09 Cuvee Granit. Gotta love ripe wines at 12 abv, if that. Citrus and cherry sap bouncing off mineral. Tart with a great lift. Crunchy. Yum. More.

Yup. Jean, who for the last year has been in the thrall of the '08 ESJ Bone Jolly, was absolutely swooning over the '09 Granit. We've only gone through a few bottles so far, but I predict that our supply won't make it into Summer.

It's developed this great unfiltered whortleberry juice flavour.

Somewhat amusing that Ollivier is using "Cot" on this label now that just about all the Cahors producers have capitulated to putting "Malbec" on theirs.

I don't think Marc is really selling on the strength of the varietal.
