'99 Le Clos du Caillou CndP Reserve le Clos du Caillou

1999 Le Clos du Caillou Chteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve le Clos du Caillou, alc 14%...$50....starts out muted and too tannic...with a little time and swirling, the semi-sweet fruit backed by a soft leathery-ness comes out and really sings....this is a "clean" type of CndP in that I get little barnyard and no brett....it is pleasing, however, in that the overall impression is fairly rustic and "old world".... I would easily say I opened this about 5 yrs too early to really show at it's very best but it does provide good enjoyment now
