TN: two wines this week

Williamsburg Winery 2005 "Gabriel Archer Reserve" - Bordeaux blend from Virginia; this drinks really well: mostly currants and other "red" fruit, a bit of tobacco-ish roughness but not much, hardly any "green" at all; I imagine this to taste like a nice little Bordeaux wine of some years ago; it made a silky match for chicken and pasta; bravo for the random gift bottle from my sister-in-law!

Dom. de la Pepiere 2007 Muscadet - This is what God serves in heaven (with Leviathan, not Ox, of course); I had it with salmon (seasoned with Five-Spice and charnushka then pan-seared), garlicky mashed potato, and asparagus w/mushrooms and pine nuts (slightly salty)... and it improved everything: it cut through the fat in the fish and lifted up the spices, it turned fruity little wheels around the garlic, and splashed a light summer rain on the salty vegetables; it had the tiniest bit of spritz so the fake-ish cork was doing its job; I bought quite a bit of this but I'm down to my last bottle, thank goodness Marc Ollivier is still working

Glad to hear the 2007 Pepiere is still holding up. I was a little concerned about the fake cork, but I'm glad my last bottle should be as pristine as my first.
