is wine made into love. Happy crunch, tendrils of tastes of things, just a thin base note of herbal elixir beneath the bounding fruit. J'♥

How come no one has ever come up with the ultra-witty moniker Brad "Sugar" Kane?

I was never "sugar." One of my sisters has that one. I was usually "hurri," "nova," or "killer."

I hope your wife didn't call you 'hurri'. :-)
I remember opening up an 2002 Domaine de Bellivière Jasnières Calligramme when you came to PDX July 2007. I remember that you very much disliked the producer?? I was always surprised by that - I really like the wines...

I don't dislike the producer at all. I think they're really nice folks and I've enjoyed some of their wines. I just think that a bunch of them are too severe for me. Certainly the reds and sometimes the whites.

How are they severe? The edgy acidity? The minerality? Do you find them austere? Just curious Brad.

Pineau d'aunis seems to inspire a greater range of emotions than most.
Just off the top of my head I can recall an '04 Rouge-Gorge served to TonyV, which yielded a comparison to Cuervo Gold, and an '07 Tesniere that won me a "I can't believe you're serving me this shit" from tofurky. Which itself was so cool that I remind him of it frequently.

Some might call the acidity more than a bit edgy. I do frequently find them too austere and in need of more fruit to back up the structure and minerality.
