Recent wines had with dinner.
Wehlener Sonnenuhr riesling spätlese halbtrocken 1985, J.J.Prüm
AP: 2 576 511 04 91. Straw colour. Stoney and mineral nose with a slight background of tropical elements. Some citrus. Shows more complexity after a couple of hours of air. Slim and dry Prüm-wine in the mouth. Very light sweetness. Slim, mineral mouthfeel. Hints of stone, slate. Citrus. Well-evolved and interesting. Refreshing acidity. Quite long and dry finish. Very good Sonnenuhr from Prüm, but there are better efforts from this producer. Drinks well now, but can probably age further.
Wormeldange Wousselt riesling Fut 30 1985, Clos des Rochers
Moselle Luxembourgeoise AOC grand premier cru. Straw colour. Nose shows flowers, some earth and citrus. Evolved notes. Slight complexity. Dry and powerful riesling in the mouth. Lightly biting and lightly rustic style. Hints of dried flowers, earth, citrus and shows the development. Still lots of fruit, but this lacks some charm and elegance. Fine acidity and a dry finish. Has kept well. Good, but it is somthing that is not correct with riesling from this part of the Mosel. The grape makes four-squared wines and the aromtics don't go well with the soil.
Wormeldange Mohrberg pinot gris Fut 23 1985, Clos des Rochers
Moselle Luxembourgeoise AOC grand premier cru. This grape is so much better suited for this area. Yellow colour. Pretty nose. Well evolved slightly underripe pinot gris. Hints of salty minerality, anise and earthiness. Dry, slim and mature pinot gris in the mouth. Fine concentration. Quite tender pinot gris with a fine minerality. Hints of anise and some more typical earthy pinot gris-notes. Fine acidity - high for this grape. Dry, citrusy finish. Good length. Very fine pinot gris and perhaps my favorite of the three.
