Loire website, Savennires

Wow, that's a great site. Did you see that map? At first I thought I was from the olde times, a la Don Rice, but in fact he put it together himself.

Interestingly, in such a thorough article he does not get into the story behind the "Jalousie."j
You mean the fact that this wine was called Serrant something once upon a time (a general, local name for the serrated small valleys cutting across down to the Loire), and due to the irateness of a close neighbor claiming a monooploy on the term, Closel had to change it and selected wisely? I heard the story myself directly from Evelyn de Jessey in 2002.

on secoond thought it may have be the Coulee name that was the problem, Coulee de Serrant meaning the serrated valley and Closels wine originally being called Clos de Coulee or something along those lines?

Nice.

I'm sure their relationship has improved tremendously since then.

Rahsaan thanks for the heads up here re Richard Kelley's site, this will be a fun read. I've never seen so much Savennieres info in a single place.

Anyone know what Richard Kelley is up to these days?

The site was always very ambitious, but I really root for him to keep up the good work if he can.
