1961 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo...opened as part of a 50th B-day celebration for my lovely wife... high fill level, a new looking cork with the date 03/2005 on it.....pale red color....flowers on the nose....great fruit remains enveloped in a bed of fresh roses...a long and satisfying finish....not tired but no real upside ahead of it (no surprise).....

Served also with 1982 La Consiellente, '91 Vina Tondonia, '95 Chave Blanc, and '93 Viemart et Cie en magnum among other great wines....finished with '89 Huet Cuvee Constnce from 750

there is a Lot of Borgogno's out there that were library released and have been decanted and recorked; some in 2007 maybe some in 2005 as well. ive gotten to drink a couple and taste the 62. the 81 is awesome as is the 74 if you happen upon them.

A bottle of the '52 was wonderful. I had two bottles of the '64, one of them also memorably lovely and the other maderized.

Borgogno has library releases, as Matteo has pointed out. Some bottles seem to be too fresh for their age, so our suspicion is that they are reconditioned with younger wine. Very good wines though, they sell for around 100-125 here in Spain. 61 and 82 are two of my favourites
