L'Ancien finally

The Beaujolais L'Ancien is, for some strange reason, not imported here though other Bruns are. But the importer did have a sample bottle of the lauded 2009 that he kindly gave to me.

Initially it showed much warm year character with plenty of very sweet fruit. But it didn't take long for the savoury, mineral, gravelly aspects of the grape to show. Fruity, but refreshing, nicely grippy and very moreish. I was always a bit prejudiced against the produce of warm years, but I do like this one very much. Now, how to get him to import this?

Jean-Paul was using those horrible synthetic corks? So what is he using for 2009? Not sure what L'Ancien is even though I have visited him twice, I have never asked!! Any one know?

My '09 L'ancien have real cork.

Agree with Otto's note, I liked this a bunch. The fruit is pretty plush, but the tannin and savory flavors are there just under the surface.
