The Finnish monopoly just had a tender for a "natural" red, max. price 15 (i.e. ex-cellar under 3) that will keep well for a year at room temperature. Good to see them getting some attention from our monopolies.

The norwegian marked is split by commercial importers and the whole-sale which is done by the stately monopoly. To insure a correct competition among the importers the monopoly make tenders that are available to the importers. Based on samples fulfilling the tenders, the monopoly will do a blind-tasting and based on the results they choose what they buy in. Normally the tenders are very accurate and narrow. Sometimes it is deliberately not - as with this tender. It is a very broad one, but will give the possibility for a wider range of producers from a wider range of areas to show what they got. And with such tenders, they will often pick more than one product.

Remember that the state-monopoly has loads of tenders and now has more than 10000 different wines in the portfolio.

The norwegian state monopoly has bought a lot of both natural, Natural and Orange wine earlier. The term "orange wine" has become well established in the norwegian marked. Included in the news that was released for sale by the monopoly in January was no less than five "orange wines" (Paraschos Ribolla Gialla 2007, Paolo Bea Santa Chiara 2008, Trinchero Bianco, Grillo Baccabianca 2005, La Stoppa Ageno 2006).
