I had dinner last night with a guy who worked at Crossroads for a while back in the day. He said that on item among the duties of the person who opened the store was to go around with an alcohol-wet rag to wipe the necks of the seeping bottles on display.
We also reminisced about the cooler full of expensive champagne that they turned off every night, so the champagne would see daily 40*+ temperature swings.
Apparently in the old days, they used to store the Yquem by the water heater, since the cases were oddly shaped or sized or something, that's where they fit best.
