Tonight at Jay Miller's we had a corked '86 Olga Raffault- Chinon "Les Picasses," and heat damaged '98 & '99 Mount Mary Vineyards- Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley.

Fixed.

Kay, welcome to .sasha's world! TCA free!

I am SO ready to have a 16-page thread debating whether the '53 Vouvray was a TCA infected mess or just a wooly old chenin blanc.

Bring it on!

That's disrespectful to Vouvray, wool and chenin blanc.

Wait, are we arguing or not?

I think you are using "not" incorrectly and I find it dis-respectful and dysrespectful.

Especially to people who work so hard to make wine.

If only you understood what it was like.

I fail to see the error in Kay's use of "not." I think you are disrespecting her and her grammar, and the latter incorrectly.

I can gainsay with the best of them.

It was a TCA infected mess.

Fortunately we had the Eminence Road Acidalia and 2009 Baudry Grezeaux to fall back on. Nice stuff.

You are now making up definitions as well as grammar, as far as I can tell. The lack of ad hominem attack in Jim's slant reference to Monty Python cannot be gainsaid.

Oh well. Can we argue about the '90 Les Picasses then?

I'm really up for a good wine debate and I'm not getting anywhere with Nathan.

Oh boy, messed up the quote thingy. This argument is really taking its toll.

Its still not an argument.
Best, Jim

But it might become an argument if you offered reasons as to why it's not an argument instead of just gainsaying poor Kay's claim to the contrary.

"An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition. Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says."
- M. Python

A quotation is not itself supporting evidence or the adducing thereof without an explanation of relevance.
