do you score north american and european ski resorts on the same scale? I can deal with all wines scored on the same scale, but not this.

I do.

Sun Valley is a 50 since they don't allow snowboarding.

It is only a mountain.

They do, they do! There were as many of them as there were skiers.

Shit, well, I guess I need to score it.

Wonder when they started allowing boarders?

Due to the superior terroir, I would suspect that Sun Valley would rate more highly than any East Coast resort, which plateau at around 83 (unless you rate things within kind, which I don't).

You know, now that I think about it, riding versus skiing changes how you rate a mountain, particularly the terrain. Bowls are much more important and bumps are less interesting.

Ice, in particular, sucks.

Mad river is at least mid-high 80's but then you have the snowboarding thing again.

Bastards! Don't they realize I don't have enough time to maintain skiing skills?!? That's why I snowboard.

One could argue excessive snowmaking is spoof. Especially when they use machines. Mad River excluded.

You're thinking Deer Valley.

Mad River, Alta, and Deer Valley are the only hold outs I think. Taos allowed a couple years back.

both snow making and slope grooming are spoof. stick with the old world skiing! boarding is like drinking white zin...

May I ask how else they are supposed to make snow if not with machines? A Shaman intervention?

Anyway, ice, mingled with brown, uncovered patches of dirt is what skiing is all about!

Long may they run!

As someone who grew up skiing Snoqualmie, I do love me some Cascade concrete, but...

I served a couple vintages of Cigare Volant about a year ago ('05 and '06) and found both of them to be definitely unspoofy and leaning towards an old world, southern-rhone sensibility for sure. Not exactly Vieux Telegraphe or Rayas, but good juice for sure.

Nope, I was traumatized enough by the ones out west. So, what does it mean? It's not in online dictionaries.
A mispelling of minerality.

Almost but not quite. I mistyped minerality & then liked the potential double meaning, so I left it.

Obviously Oswaldo hasn't spent enough time reading the English on Japanese t-shirts.
