Trimbach Cuvée Frédéric Emile Riesling '93??

Slated for dinner tomorrow evening is Trimbach Cuvée Frédéric Emile Riesling '93 en Magnum. Someone expressed dubiousness.

I am confident it will be fine if not wonderful.

Any opinions??

Only too young if you insist on searching for that elusive "peak" that is always in the future and incredibly fleeting.

Nice try.

But not in this case.

Had it from magnum about a year ago. Was drinking very nicely - though for a CFE it was a bit soft, and I reckon this is a good time to open it.

I opened a bottle of this last april and thought it showed very well - certainly mature but in no danger of decline - and held its own very well against the 375th anniversary bottling and the '99 clos ste hune.

I've enjoyed it from magnum several times (is this from the old CSW stash?). No need to rush but lovely now.

The 1993 CSH on the other hand is a weird vintage.

that's a great fred.

Didn't it undergo Malo, as did the '93 Hune?

thanks for your data points, everyone.

Salil, soft compared to what other vintages? Just curious.

Brad, you are thinking of '93 Fred "Fut 4", a cask that went through malo and was bottled separately, accordingly. I can treat you to a bottle, but I am quite sure you won't be thanking me. Regular Fred did not. As to '93 Hune, that remains a mystery.

Ah, yes. The Fut 4. Had it when I worked at Garnet and I think once or twice after that. Definitely not a fan.

Pretty sure the '93 Hune did undergo it. I have it in my notes from our Hune vertical nine years ago.

Thanks everyone for confirming my expectations.

Hopefully no kerosene intrusiveness!

P.S. On the CSW question, I don't know. This wine is being contributed by a friend.
