NWR: When Errol Met Thomas

Yule Kim

Yule Kim
A hilarious blog post written by Errol Morris about the time Thomas Kuhn threw an ashtray at him and then threw him out of Princeton. Apparently, Kuhn was a bit of a dick.

The video reenactment of the ashtray in mid-flight makes the post. Sort of like Thin Blue Line.

Fantastic, Yule! From my experience with his prose I knew that Kuhn was a bore, but little did I suspect that he was also a boor. Go, Errol!

Were you there the night that Nick Turro ambushed us all?

Damn tootin' I was, alas. After having suffered as an undergrad through reading the damn thing, I was none too pleased to have to endure Turro's born-again zealotry in Readers' Digest form.

Gah!

Well put.

I had also read the book. I bet we weren't the only ones. It was, what, 30 years old or more by that point?

Original publication date was 1962, so at that time it was ~25 years old. From my conversations afterward, it appeared that most of our contemporaries weren't familiar with the book or its concepts (some even expressed enthusiasm for Turro's presentation), which probably indicates a deficiency in their Liberal Arts education.
