Of course I too want to extend my sympathies and the expectation that you soon find something even better than your previous gig. However, I must confess to a fair amount of guilt since it was no more than 24 hours after I publicly expressed my desire to visit you at Alto that the shit hit the fan. So sorry, man. Next time I'll know to keep my trap shut and just show up unannounced.

I do think about getting back to Portland. Maybe one day.
 
The owner of the Dalton winery passed through a restaurant that I was working in about 10 years ago and was so pleased to hear about my last name that he gave me a hat with the winery name emblazoned on it. I may be wrong about this, but I think the same people are involved with the Yarden winery.
 
A very famous wine writer once refused to believe me that I was indeed talking about a Burgundy when I offered his table a Saint-Bris. He blamed it on the Sauvignon Blanc at the time, but now it is all very clear to me.
