The family has already left for the beach and I got a wild hair to try making Moules Frites at home....the mussels were from Maine and were a bit smallish...the recipe called for a little Muscadet and Pernod (I used Absenthe) as well as onions, carrot, thyme, parsley shallot, etc..
2008 Domaine de la Pepiere Muscadet Les Gras Moutons, alc 12%, $16....the wine was bright, lively and exciting....it really brought the food alive and the whole experience was great...I would definitely make this dish again...
