Quick sips of Brovia

One of my local wine shops had a tasting of Brovia wines last night. Alex Sanchez was pouring, and it was an extra treat to meet him.

He was pouring:
2009 Roero Arneis - very typical, lightly peachy and almondy
2008 Dolcetto "Vignavillej" - crisp and clean, light and cheerful wine, easily worth the $20 asked
2006 Barolo "Villa" (his term for the normale) - not much going on here; clean, sure, but fat, limp and lazy; Alex says it needs to be open for several more hours to wake up so I guess I'll cut it some slack

Alex said to drink the 2006s in the near term. They're good, just not to keep for years and years. That's how the vintage was.

He also had a bottle of 2005 Barolo "Villero" behind the table. He had opened that up at noon so it would be ready to pour for people who expressed some appreciation. That was great wine: intoxicating aroma, lots of grip (suave but firm).
