I just finished up a 2009 Huet Clos du Bourg sec and the acidity was fine. Can someone elaborate on he perceived problems with the 2009 Huet vintage?

The '09 Secs and the sweeties are quite nice. Of course, I like the sweeties better. It was sweetie vintage, imo. Try the '09 LHL Demi-Sec and let me know what you think of it. I found it unbalanced with a real heat problem.

That's not just your opinion, Brad. John Gilman has gone on record as saying that '09 favors the sweeter wines whereas '08 shines for the demi-secs. On the basis of my experience with the remarkable '08 Pinon Tradition, I'd say that '08 is also pretty damn excellent for sec-tendre wines.

and I'll chime in here as well in defence of the 08 Le Mont Demi - Friends of mine served that for two courses at their wedding dinner (killer with the arugula/poached pear/manchego salad and also with the roasted turbot with oyster mushrooms and corn ravioli) and it was the hit of the evening at a wedding that featured godme rose before, Lamy's 05 St Aubin Frionnes (sp?) with the lobster bisque, the demi, bachelet CdNV 06 with the duck, and M-C Mussbacher Eselhaut Riesling auslese 01 with the carrot/spice wedding cake. I've had it two other times and have repurchased it. I'm sure it will age well but man it is sooooo delicious now.

and I'm an acid freak.

Btw, I went back and edited my comment. It was the '09 LHL Demi, not the Le Mont, that I tried at the domaine and found overly alcoholic.

So I just opened the 08 Huet LM DS to have with dinner tonight. The first sip was shocking, minerality hacking at my palate like a glistening ninjato, glazed with honey crystals. 'Zounds!

See? Brilliant wine.

Say what you will about '08 Le Mont demi-sec, I can't imagine accusing it of low acidity. Quite a spine. Oswaldo, you need to retaste.

As for the bear case, I can see where they're coming from. There is an aroma in this wine that I could call a disulfide as a guess. Doesn't really bug me, though. Perhaps I am insensitive to it, or perhaps I have not learned not to like it. For me it is not at all dominant against the yellow fruit flavors.

OK, back to coffee.
