I've had this since release, pretty well stored. But I'm puzzled by the tag on the back, which doesn't look like Bill's. So I'm not sure where I got it.
Pretty golden color, significant tartrate deposit.
Fresh quite beautiful GV aromas, maybe just a hint of funk and a certain amount of development--yellowfruit moving to honey, some botrytis.
Bright acidity and full body, as this wine has always carried. More satisfying in the middle than on the finish, when it gets a bit diffuse.
I fear that with many of the best '96s from Austria, the acid will overtake the fruit in the next few years, and these are not going to improve. So drink up.
