We will be hosting a tasting with the great Mathieu Lapierre and Jean Montanets of Dom. de la Cadette this coming weds. from 6-8pm in the shop. No need to rsvp, just show up.

i should add that Alberto Tedeschi will be pouring his pignoletto, et al with us on friday the 20th if you cant make it on weds.

I went to a winemaker dinner last night at Thirstbaràvin with these two men as honored guests. Bang-up event with great food and friendly people. The wines:

With trotter torchon and Blue Hill farms greens:

2009 Domaine de la Cadette Bourgogne Vézelay La Chatelaine - light, fresh, tender even, Chablis-like precision; great pairing

With braised pork cheeks and rutabaga puree:

2009 Lapierre Morgon - delicious, young; great pairing
2009 Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Marcel Lapierre MMIX - huge, admittedly delicious but maybe a bit much, needs time

With some truly insane US-made, Jura-style, ultra-gooey cheese (must find out what it was - mindblower):

2010 Lapierre Raisins Gaulois - nice shift downward, delightful and a great cheese companion

Bonus pour that, nearly forgotten, came in unintentionally with a delicious serving of chocolate mousse with salted caramel sauce (bad pairing, but I can't complain):

2007 Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Marcel Lapierre MMVII - rocky, savory, perfect - give me this over the MMIX now and always.

I was having so much fun I couldn't stop:

NV Domaine de Montbourgeau Macvin - bonkers good.

The macvin is super fresh and light on its feet. I'd pair it with something moderately fruity and rich, apricot tart or something like that.

we just poured that macvin at last friday's tasting...people really went nuts for it. cool stuff. glad the dinner was so nice.

Macvin. Unfortunate name for a wine.
Maybe they'll re-brand it, call it iVin. Put it out in a few different color options. Have a commercial with a Rolling Stones track underneath. They'll sell boat loads.
