Peaceful dinner

The last glass of a bottle of La Kiuva 2008 Arnad Montjovet is still good. It reminds me of the 2007 but is a bit heartier; maybe some of the raspberries have become plums. It is a fine match with broiled skirt steak and toasted slices of pano con sesamo topped with roasted red peppers and herbs.

I put away the beets and go on to dessert: With slices of apple and chunks of cheese I open a bottle of Baudry 2010 Chinon Rose which smells altogether different from the La Kiuva... It is pale pink, brightly acid, just hinting at cab franc leafiness. Less exciting than it was at the Attack, some weeks ago, but still a lot of flavor for not a lot of $.

Valle d'Aosta, though they use what looks like a French spelling (Vallée d'Aosta) on the label. Really good - we had a bottle last week. If I had another, I'd bring it along next time I'm up your way.

La Kiuva is the name of the local cooperative.

Arnad Montjovet, believe it or not, is the DOC.

Baudry 2010 Chinon Rose

Man you are quick: I just got the Chambers email about this a day or so ago!
Nice to have our itinerant reviewer so close!

I had been emailing Chambers for a week already!
