thanks!
that would be the ouille.
As to what that means - I've made an appointment with SFJoe to explain, he has an opening sometime in June.
But I suspect that's the one that spends a couple of centuries in topped up barrels.

hard to know with these guys, it could be a ouille released only a couple years later, it could be a long ouillage, so released just a year or so ago. Only drinking it will tell you what's what really. so bryan, long or short ouillage?

I'm really not sure. I'm torn whether the weight/complexity came from long ouillage, 10 years in bottle, or something else.... Need more context. Should start opening up all the Overnoy I have siting around!

I have some '99 Overnoy Vin Jaune coming my way! I will update when I open it.

Also, I will wear two pairs of socks to test Sharon's reaction.

These 99 is sublime. It makes you question if vin jaune really is an oxidative wine. So much freshness, so drinkable. One of my all time favorite.

Really looking forward to the '99 VJ.

Now that I think of it, the '01 did have a great freshness to it. The oxidation was secondary, maybe even tertiary, to everything else going on. I'd be curious to put it next to Ganevat's '99 "Les vignes de mon père."

Probably a better head-to-head opponent would be Overnoy's '99 Ouille but that I do not have!

Bryan, I have the '99 Ouille. Come out to the Bay Area and we can have a little tasting. I bet Guilhaume would come.

Even I've got some '99 Ouille.

Vin Jaune, that takes connections I do not have... :(

The '97 Ouille is every bit the equal of the '99 Vin Jaune, and that's saying a lot!

I had a brief cheap moment and passed on the '99 in favor of more bottles Overnoy. Plus, I had just paid a C-note for '99 Ganevat and was still upset.

Jim - Thanks for the invite. I will take you up on that. W/ Guilhaume that makes enough for some large format Overnoy. :-P

it's a great wine. pricey in france as well, as you can see.

Bryan, you come to the Bay Area with the 99 Overnoy Vin Jaune, and I'll open a 99 Overnoy Ouille and the 99 Ganevat Mon Pere. For that, we might get Cory and Guilhaume.
