'09 Clos du la Roillette, alc 13%... this particular bottle is a bit reserved and ungiving but shows great promise....what a great upside potential
 
i like how roilette is the one reliable beaujolais in hot vintages. Not sure if it's due to old vines or burgundian vinification, but they just work well in those years, imo.
 
All this made me open a bottle last night. Can't say it was anything near a shrinking violet yesterday; pretty forward and full-in-the-mouth. If there was anything, I was kind of concerned about the alcohol. It really felt all of 13% if not a touch more. But, tonight on day 2, it's settled down a bit. Much more integrated. There's still a lot there and it's got a long life ahead, but it's definitely more enjoyable to drink this evening. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do with the 2010s.

I know. I've got my fingers crossed that the cases and cases I've been stashing away will bring in the big bucks on the auction market down the road. All those orignal wood cases... It's a shoe in!

Wait... isn't this how all your vintages of the century come? I thought it was standard operating procedure. These Beaujolais vignerons are savvy enough to know how important OWCs are to resale value.
