Île des Vergelesses

How was the Fourneaux? I bought a few bottles when KL was selling them cheaply, but the one I tried (about two years ago) made me want to leave them alone for a long time.

I think it is in the Fourneaux that CdB really let their rustic side come into full play. The Fourneaux is a rather sturdy, fullbodied and fleshy SlB. I have no experience with aging it, but it could be interesting to follow. There is a couple more bottles of the '06 in my cellar. Will wait a few years to try the next one.

Thanks. The one I opened was sturdy, but there was no body or flesh to speak of - it was rather like chewing stems. I imagine these bottles will be good with time, but reckon there is no hurry to drink them.

I opened some '06 CdB earlier this year. SlB Aux Fournaux, PV Les Vergelesses and Ile des Vergelesses, Corton Marechaudes and Clos de Roi to be exact. The Ile was the bottle I found most closed and hard to taste. The Les Vergelesses and Marechaudes the most open. Speaking of quality, the Clos de Roi was in a class of it's own.

A couple of weeks ago I had a 1998 Clos de Roi of theirs that was quite nice.

well, I don't know how to engage without attracting unnecessary attention to the good stuff which may still be available, if in small quantities.

speaking of which, 07 CENSORED beauroy was so lovely.
