Open one of David's 2008s last night and came away thoroughly impressed. I'm looking forward to trying more of his 2008s and 2009s.

2008 Domaine David Clark Bourgogne Au Pelson
Beautiful earthen nose combines savory mushroom, soil and underbrush with red florals and a red fruited core. The palate was full of minerals, dried red florals, and a spicy red fruit component seamlessly wound together. Took some time for the palate to smooth out, but by about 90 minutes of air exposure this was drinking more like a 1er than a Bourgogne.
 
Thanks; 08 regionals and villages seem to be all over the place, so notes on individual wines are especially useful.

Zach - there's an active thread on his domaine now in Berserkers, fwiw.

Ian - they have a couple bottles of this left at Weygandt...think it was $29. I grabbed Clark's '08 Vosne Romanee yesterday after Todd spoke highly about it too. Eager to give that a try.
 
david clark is a fairly new producers in burgundy imported by weygandt. i think he was a successful race car driver and used his money to buy land and start making wine.

i have liked some of the wines and been less impressed with others. the pelson is usually pretty nice. he makes good morey st denis too.
 
We can start an offshoot board called the Wine Adirondacks. For validity of comparisons, all wines must be tasted while sitting on wooden slatted chairs out on the porch.
 
Visited him in December in Morey, really nice guy (from Scotland, I think).
Don't have the notes with me, but the wines were very nice, and the Vosne AC was great.

So what? You're disclaiming familiarity with the Berkshires?

Pinot noir is all the rage in the Catskills these days.
