Recommendations in Rome and Montepulciano region?

We're headed next week to Rome for a few days (based in Trastavere neighborhood) and a week just south of Montepulciano. Do disorderlies have any food, restaurant or other recommendations in either place? We're trying to keep it low key and relaxed, so I'm just looking for places that aren't too far away from Trastavere or Central Rome, or Montepulciano. Thanks in advance,
Christian

Near Montepulciano go to the village of Montefollonico. Eat at La Botte Piena. Really well done stuff. get the pici al sugo finto, which is a white meat based sauce with ground duck, really good. Amazing wine list that gets better every time i visit my friends there.

Go also to Pienza and eat at La Buca della Fate. Small place on the right, just after the central piazza. really old school, locals joint. Great salumi. Near there in Piazza Spagna (tiny square down the street to the left) is a place called Sete di Vino. Known specifically for their really great bean soup and lardo. vino al fiasco is the way to go.

You'll have a few Caravaggio's within walking distance, in nearly a strait line, between you and the Galleria Borghese, starting with the San Luigi dei Francesi and St. Agostino...then, closer to the Borghese, Santa Maria del Popolo and finally the Borghese itself. These places have my favorite C's, at least, and make for an interesting 1/2 day + walking tour. When I was in Rome, whenever I got burned out Stendhalismo style, the Caravaggio's never failed to refresh me.

The Pantheon has a nice feeling in the early evenings, not sure the food is the greatest nearby, but who cares....have a glass of house wine outside and bask in it's tremendous atmosphere...if it's not crazily overrun with tourists (I was there late fall when I did all this).

For a gastronautic experience in Rome checcione dal 1887 is a must. It is a little of the beaten track a.k.a the tourist trap but it is worth it ol` school, rustic and the uttermost maschuline restaurant I ever tried ( no misogynist pun intended) and one of the few places where you can still find a Fiorano Boncompagni for less money than in NY http://www.checchino-dal-1887.com/

I am a European misspelling newbie- So fuck me!!
