Philadelphia?

I may have to spend an evening in Philadelphia next week. This brings many WC Fields jokes immediately to mind, but is there anyplace near Logan Square that would be better than room service? I know all about the PA state stores and the general awfulness of wine in PA.

i love bibou and go there quite often but it's not close to logan square. i still highly reccomend it if you can get a reservation.

Used to live a couple blocks from Logan Square, and you're surrounded by a lot of very nice restuarants. A couple favorites include:

Matyson - 37 South 19th Street
Tinto - 114 SOUTH 20TH STREET

Both are easy walks from the Logan Square area.

matyson is a great choice. bring your own juice though. the state stores mostly suck.
The 20th & Chestnut store seems to have a weak selection for a PLCB superstore.

Osteria (vetrifamily.com) is quite nearby (4 blocks east, 8 north), and Amada (amadarestaurant.com) for tapas is a short taxi ride away, down by Independence Hall. Either would be a great choice.

I ate at Amada a year or two past and it was an enjoyable experience. The wine list, favoring Spanish wines, wasn't the easiest to choose from, but a Alvaro Palacios Petalos Bierzo was pleasant enough.
