Cross Country Shipping

I'm relocating to Seattle from Chicago this fall, and I'll need to move a 500-bottle cellar across the country. Unfortunately, I can't drive the wine there myself, so I'll have to hire a wine shipper. Anyone have a recommendation for shippers (or other miscellaneous advice)?

Many thanks.

Back when I moved ('90) I inquired with local retailers about the best people to ship wine cross-country. The answer I got back then was Pilot Air Freight, but I have no idea whether they still exist, let alone are still good. I had a great experience with them, though.

John, Western Carriers has handled very large shipments for us and have been most reliable and cooperative.

I suspect they cooked six bottles of my Bachelet but I hold Sherry Lehmann responsible. Why they shipped via air to So. NJ I'll never understand. Trucked the bottles out to JFK an flew them to PHL and then trucked out.
I would think you'd be OK using Pilot in the fall.

I used Western Carriers to move a rather large cellar, and they did a perfect job on the move. I would recommend them again, with the caveat that the driver and you will have to put all the boxes onto pallets. Hope you have a strong back!
