2007 Domaine Luneau Gros-Plant du Pays Nantais Sur Lie, vielles vignes par Luneau-Papin, alc 11%:
Nearly colorless in the glass save for a hint of green (like chinese green tea)..nose of powder, shells and granite...electrical acidity with crisp Meyer lemon and lime notes... one of the most "laser focused" wines I have had in a long time.. simply lovely in all ways... glad I have several more..decades of improvement likely ahead of it..
I think I may prefer this over the l d'Or..

Which vintages of the L d'Or?

And why?

Well... not as good at the '89 L d'Or but showing better than the '05 version.. why.. hard to say.. perhaps a side by side comparison would be better than an offhand remark

I don't know how the 05 L d'Or is showing now but it is not hard to imagine that a young fresh and exuberant wine would be more fun (in certain ways) than a wine already in bottle for a few years and going through an evolutionary stage.

I haven't liked much of the Gros Plant that I've tasted, but then I haven't tasted much.
 
I tasted through all of the LPs when Joe was in town a month or so ago. Everything was great. For me the Gros Plant came in with a lot of similarities to their Muscadet SL. I thought the L d'Or was great, but bulkier than the 04, which is still one of my all time favorite Muscadets. But trade tastings are not the best place to really hone in on something.

I would have been very happy to unwind with any of their wines. And I will have to try the GP again, for sure.
