earthquake!

we just had one! well, southern VA had it and we felt it - had to evacuate the office building - but the only spot outside and nearby that isn't surrounded by tall buildings and so is a great place to stand was cordoned off by the secret service. One friend has already reported many broken bottles in her wine cellar. Sure hope I don't discover that when I get home.

who else felt it?

Here, too; north-central Virginia. Saw some bricks on the street from a storefront on the way home, otherwise nothing dramatic. Took me back to my childhood in Japan.

We were nicely shaken up on the sidewalk near Eastern Market. The 7yo was freaked out while still claiming she felt nothing--I think it was all the activity on the sidewalk and the word, "earthquake." I don't think our discussion of the Richter scale and plate tectonics helped as much as 30 minutes of tv. The 3yo thought it was funny.

No broken bottles back at the house.

Mollydooker joke here somewhere, but I haven't the wit.

you are correct. i read the online news headline a little too quickly. we did feel it for about 10 seconds and a couple buildings were evacuated in downtown wilmington.

Bunch of pussiesUnless the magnitude is at least 6.4 or 6.5 it's not worth mentioning here in CA. Many Napa cabs leave a stronger impression.

More that an earthquake in these parts is a significant novelty, than a reflection on anyone's machismo.

We felt it up in northern Connecticut. The building I am in swayed noticeably for about 15 seconds. We then had an evacuation while they checked gas lines and hazardous material areas.
