2009 Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet (Hervé Souhaut) La Souteronne
What a great Gamay. A lot of class and purity. Interesting as this is definitely not Beaujo and not Pinot like but shows true character.
Beautiful nose, wet stones, hint of stems, floral with plenty of fruit (mainly blue, always restrained). Only 12.5%, superb balance, some olives.
Beautiful wine.
2004 Lucie & Auguste Lignier Morey St. Denis
When just opened, the oak showed a little (nothing annoying though) and then really became just part of the wine. A lot of dark fruits with cassis and violets but from time to time you get a burst of cranberry and red cherry. Enjoyable fruit "sweetness". Some green with a stemmy touch as well as a light green vegetal note. Lots of spices and a hint of tobacco.
Show true Morey St Denis character. Really nice wine, drinking well but will certainly improve for a few years.
2006 Királyudvar Tokaji Sec
As always a very solid, consistent delicious wine. A very light touch of oxidation on the nose (none on the palate), mineral with apricot and mango. A hint of bruised apple. Round and almost fat but lively thanks to the acidity. Pretty long finish.
I love this wine and it never disappoints.
2002 Benedicte de Rycke Jasnières Cuvée Louise
Smoky nose with obvious minerality and honey. Subtle spices (almost some cumin, curry). Piercing acidity, baked apples lemon and hint of pear with a long yeasty finish. Fruit is ripe, almost exotic from time to time but the fabulous acidity keeps you coming back for more.
Lovely.
2008 Clos Ste. Magdeleine Cassis
Really fresh nose with more weight that you would expect after that nose. Quite grassy, hint of hay with some raspberry and strawberry notes. A touch of lemon and orange but there's not really any particular fruit standing out. Actually there's not much fruit right now, almost like lemon water. Good acidity that cuts the oiliness of the texture. A bitter finish.
Well made and I really liked it.
