RIP Daniel Rogov

I've exchanged some emails about wine with Daniel plus some other things. I can't imagine anyone not liking him as a human being. Interesting, intelligent, charming, well read in many areas. He'll be missed by many.

I have had on-line discussions and disagreements with Rogov (as he liked to be called) and I was pleased to call him friend, although I have never met him.
I had seriously hoped that when he visited the states he would come and stay with us.
I am very sad about this.
He was a quite remarkable personality and I do wish he'd have had more time.
But we are not in charge of that part of our existence, and no one knows that more than me.
Best, Jim

ברוך אתה ה' א‑לוהינו מלך העולם, דין האמת

A wonderful character, indeed, and always a great help when I needed help with some aspect or other on the archaeology of wine (some crucial articles are available only in Hebrew, and my skills in Hebrew are severely limited) and indeed Israeli archaeology in general. His generosity and intellectual curiosity were unparalleled.
