Coquelet?

Despite this being a Dressner import, we don't hear too much about this producer from the shills on this board. Just tried the 2009 Chiroubles and thought it an okay bottling, despite the soda-pop nose and pricklyness (yes, seemed to be a little unstable). There was light strawberry with talc on the finish but the lightly carbonated action on this had me a bit worried. Good, but a bit simple, and would drink now, not for keeping. B Are these supposed to be like this? For the money, 20-bucks, I'd prefer Brun or Lapierre.

I don't like talc either but the carbonation is most likely just protective CO2 to compensate for lowish sulfur, and dissipates if you perform a vigorous hula dance while throwing the decanter from one had to the other.

Oz, don't get me wrong, I find talc common on the finish of Beaujolais. It was more the prickle that left me questioning.

There was talc also on a cheap Bouchard Père et Fils Macon tasted the other day, so maybe it's a thing with some Gamays. I don't like anything medicinal in my wine.

I had several bottles and thought all of them were really delicious and with a subtle minerality which I liked a lot. Did not get any soda like flavors and I loved the acidity this 09 showed. I decanted this wine so I did not get any spritz... One of my favorite 2009 Bojo.

Haven't tried the Chiroubles, but the producer makes an excellent Cote du Py. Also provides the grapes for the P-U-R Cote du Py, a recent Selection Massale, er, selection that I grabbed a couple bottles of. Eager to watch them sit in my cellar(ish space) for 5 years.

I like china in my wine, from time to time.
